2023/24 Naish Triad Review – All-Around Freeride/Wave

Synopsis: The 2023 Naish Triad is a versatile all-around freeride/wave kite that offers predictable performance and significant upgrades that enhance its usability and functionality across a variety of conditions and riding styles. It’s an ideal kite for advancing your twin-tip riding or surf riding, showing remarkable prowess and adaptability.

Likes: The Triad is powerful and provides direct feedback, ensuring you understand the kite’s position and behaviour. The kite boasts a sizable sweet spot and delivers a smooth, positive forward pull during turns. Although it may feel slightly heavy in the air, it makes up for it with its predictability and easy flying characteristics, making it a fantastic choice for progression.

The Triad features significant design improvements, including a redesigned wingtip shape that increases drift and down-the-line performance and a more swept-back profile that quickens turning speed and lightens bar pressure. The kite’s lower aspect ratio contributes to faster and lighter flight, enabling adept navigation through challenging wave sections while preserving its trademark predictable flight characteristics.

The Triad maintains its sheet-in-and-go performance, thanks to its luff strut and reasonably deep draft, facilitating progression from beginner to higher-level riding. The Dacron structure of the kite has also been redesigned, with reinforcements strategically placed to increase strength while reducing overall weight.

The Triad’s construction incorporates Quad-Tex Ripstop fabric, renowned as the stiffest and strongest canopy on the market, ensuring durability and high-performance characteristics over time. The new wingtip construction, dubbed “Swift Tips,” offers a 30% strength improvement over previous versions while being lighter and using less dacron. This enhances the kite’s aesthetics with a more streamlined look while also providing performance benefits such as more direct turning.

Drawbacks: The 10-meter we tested was too heavy to excel at foiling. But the durable construction will give you the confidence to try new tricks and teach friends.

Best For: The 2023 Naish Triad All-Around Freeride/Wave kite seamlessly blends ease of use, bomb-proof surf durability and performance. This multifaceted kite is a great companion for riders looking to progress and excel in different disciplines, delivering a consistent, predictable, and versatile kiting experience.
