In this interview, Gary Siskar from Ride Engine takes us through the exciting innovations happening with their harnesses, particularly the Hyperlock system. Building on Ride Engine’s reputation as the pioneers of the hard shell harness, they are now taking it to the next level with Hyperlock, a groundbreaking ratchet system designed for maximum convenience and performance.
Hyperlock is a licensed technology developed by Hydro Cinch, featuring four ratchets (two on each side) that provide a highly secure, easy-to-adjust system. Tested rigorously in various conditions, from salt water to cold climates, Hyperlock allows for quick adjustments on the fly, making it highly intuitive and perfect for any rider.
Gary also introduces the newly redesigned Step 2 Hard Shell, a result of biometric analysis that refines the harness’s profile for a better fit. This design includes an updated lumbar lock and a side bend that creates extra space between the harness and ribcage, improving comfort during big air and aggressive maneuvers.
The lineup includes several models:
- Carbon Elite Type 1: The stiffest harness with a 3K or 12K carbon shell, offering top-level performance for big air and powered riding.
- Elite Type 2: A more flexible option with a fiberglass and TPU thermo-formed shell for protection and added flex.
- Light: A super lightweight harness (sub-1 kg) with a thermoformed EVA body that doesn’t absorb water, making it perfect for those who prioritize agility.
Each model retains vertical rigidity for optimal support, while offering varying levels of torsional flex, catering to different riding styles, from big air to freestyle. The new harnesses are expected to launch around October in limited quantities.
Gary is thrilled to bring these innovations to the market, with Ride Engine continuing to push boundaries in harness design and technology.
