Light brings experience and character to the
newly-created position.
Slingshot Sports is pleased to announce longtime team rider Sam Light has been promoted to the newly created post of Kite Team Manager. Light has been a dominant figure in competitive kiteboarding for nearly a decade and brings the perfect blend of experience and esteem with the humble and wholesome character Slingshot values to manage its family of team riders and aspiring young athletes.
Light will maintain his competitive travel schedule and global team rider status while managing his new role from his home base in the UK and liaising with Slingshot headquarters in Hood River, Oregon. He will work closely with Slingshot Kite Brand Manager, Alex Fox, to empower team riders and help them succeed competitively, personally and as ambassadors of the brand and the sport.
“Sam has spent the better part of the last two decades traveling the world as a professional kiteboarder,”Fox said. “This gives him a wealth of knowledge into managing, nurturing, and scouting talent. Sam will have a pivotal role in managing our growing roster and will take on the challenge of mentoring younger riders into the future icons of the sport. I can’t wait to see what he does in this new position.”
This new position will lighten the load for Fox—who has acted as Brand Manager for the last several years– and will free up more of his time to focus on research and development, market strategy and the forward-thinking innovations that continue to define Slingshot as one of the most respected brands in kiteboarding.
