Unveiling the 2024 Naish Pivot & Board Collection

Naish 2024: Evolution Meets Revolution

Aloha, kiteboarding enthusiasts! As the leaves begin to change and the wind starts to shift, Kiteboarding Magazine is thrilled to bring you the first glimpse of what’s set to define the upcoming season – the brand-new Naish 2024 Kiteboarding lineup. Kitesurfing Magazine has taken some of the design team notes and incorporated them directly into this in-depth overview.

2024 NAISH PIVOT

CONQUER EVERY CONDITION

HIGH-PERFORMANCE FREERIDE/BIG AIR

SIZES: 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 11 | 12 | 14

The Pivot is the perfect fit for anyone who wants to do it all with one kite. This year, we have made performance changes that benefit everyday kiteboarders and pro riders alike. The new draft is optimized for performance based on kite size, providing more control and an increased wind range. Aspect ratios have been fine-tuned for a more comfortable all-around user experience. What you have with the new Pivot is the same all around performance kite, with a new higher level of control. Utilizing Quad-Tex ripstop canopy material, we’ve been able to design a new Dacron construction on the wingtips to give improved responsiveness with less weight. After almost a decade of development, the Pivot continues to evolve and sit atop of the food chain.

The 2024 Naish Pivot kite offers numerous updates and improvements. Here’s what’s new:

  1. Control: The 2024 Pivot focuses on control. This includes easy de-power and fast forward flying in the window. This change benefits both regular kiteboarders, by allowing them to control their power and edge more efficiently, and top-end kiteboarders, providing a more vertical takeoff for higher jumps.
  2. Draft Placements: Changes have been made in the draft placements across the size range to match what each size is intended for. The aspect ratios are higher in larger sizes, pushing them to fly further forward, while still having the “sheet in and go” power for light wind performance. For sizes 9, 10, and 11, the draft and aspect ratio have been adjusted for more efficiency, allowing more power generation through the wind window.
  3. Kite Efficiency: The kite is now more efficient, creating its power through the wind window. This means it generates more power the faster you ride it. This design also allows kiteboarders with not-so-strong edge control to edge upwind hard, increasing the wind range and allowing for higher jumps.
  4. Draft Placement Adjustments: For the eight and seven sizes, the draft placement has been lowered. These kites are designed for higher winds but are also efficient in light winds. They offer fast recovery from kite loops and a more vertical takeoff.
  5. Profile for Smaller Kites: The five and six sizes have kept a slightly deeper draft profile. This is because smaller kites already fly very forward in the wind window. The idea is to offer more control and power for these sizes.
  6. Durability: Durability remains a key focus for Naish kites. The Pivot uses the quadtex canopy, known for its stiffness, strength, and durability. The kite also employs 177 gram Asian Dacron for its leading edge and struts, ensuring longevity and maintaining its shape.
  7. Protection and Reinforcements: The kite features aramid patches along the leading edge, foam bumpers on the tops of the struts, and molded strut ends to protect against general wear and tear.
  8. Swift Tips: A new feature for the pivot, the Swift Tips have been designed to strengthen the wingtip by 30% while also making it lighter. This has also enhanced the kite’s aesthetic appeal.
  9. Bridling Updates: The kite’s bridling has been refined for optimal performance. This includes a transition from a four-point to a five-point bridle system, providing more stability in various wind conditions.
  10. High Tensile Thread: This thread allows for higher kite inflation, making the leading edge stiffer and stronger.
  11. Diagonal Load Seam: This feature transfers steering input throughout the kite, providing direct feedback and reducing canopy stretching over time.
  12. Progressive Profile: The kite’s profile is deeper in the center and flattens towards the wingtips, ensuring efficient flight.
  13. Versatility: The Pivot is designed for kiteboarders of all levels. It excels in big air kiteboarding, free riding, freestyle, wave riding, and kite foiling. It offers ultimate control in all kiteboarding conditions.

In summary, the 2024 Naish Pivot has been updated to provide more control, efficiency, and durability, catering to kiteboarders of all levels. Whether you’re into big air, freestyle, wave riding, or kite foiling, the Pivot aims to be the go-to kite for all-around performance.

What’s New with the 2024 Naish Motion Kiteboard?

The Naish Motion Kiteboard, a staple in the freeride lineup, has undergone some fascinating upgrades for the year 2024. Here are the highlights:

  1. Keel Lock Technology:
    • A significant new feature this year, the Keel Lock Technology is a spine that runs the length of the single concave on the board’s bottom.
    • It plays a pivotal role in enhancing upwind performance.
    • One notable benefit is that it disperses water, ensuring that even the toughest landings feel exceptionally smooth.
  2. Enhanced Design for Rough Waters:
    • Alongside the new Keel Lock Technology, the Motion also integrates rail channels into its design.
    • This combination ensures superb hold and comfort, especially in choppy waters.
    • The result? A more reliable takeoff and landing experience.
  3. Flex Tips:
    • The board’s tips are equipped with polyurethane-filled slots known as Flex Tips.
    • They assist in controlling flex and power in the board’s tips.
    • This feature ensures a more controlled and smoother ride across various kiteboarding activities.
  4. Revamped Deck Shaping:
    • The board now boasts cut-out handles on both the heel side and toe side rails.
    • These modifications make board-off rotations simpler, allowing riders to easily catch and firmly hold onto the board, eliminating the need for the grab handle.
  5. Centered Inserts:
    • A standard with all Naish boards, the Motion’s centered inserts enable riders to swap foot straps from one side to the other.
    • This symmetrical design means if one rail gets worn out, you can switch it to the other side, effectively prolonging the board’s lifespan.
  6. Quality Fins:
    • The board is equipped with 5-centimeter axef fins, renowned for their quality.
    • These fins provide excellent hold and upwind drive.
  7. Balanced Performance:
    • The board’s design, including the rocker line, flex pattern, and outline, exudes a mellow, forgiving feel.
    • It’s versatile, ensuring it’s not so high-performance that it deters light wind riding or beginner to intermediate riders, yet not too low-performance that advanced tricks are out of reach.
    • Many of Naish’s team riders have been seen executing high-performance freestyle and big air tricks on the Motion, a testament to its reliability and robustness.

In essence, if you’ve been a Motion enthusiast in the past or are on the hunt for the quintessential all-around freeride board, the 2024 Naish Motion is worth considering. With its blend of innovative features and tried-and-true design elements, it promises an exhilarating ride.

The 2024 Naish Traverse Ewan Jaspen Pro model has the following new and noteworthy features:

  1. Versatility: The board is designed as a do-it-all package, catering to multiple aspects of kiteboarding. From big air, freestyle, park hits, freeride sessions, to wave slashing, the Traverse promises versatility in performance.
  2. New Outline: It offers riders a longer, narrow outline. There are multiple size variants available:
    • 152, which is 43 centimeters wide.
    • 144
    • 138, which is specifically designed for smaller riders or those who prefer super-small boards.
  3. Strength and Durability:
    • It boasts a thick rail, which provides a strong bite in the water and ensures there are no weak points throughout the board. This design emphasis ensures the board’s longevity, especially for those looking for a durable option for trips.
    • The board is described as “bomb proof” with features to enhance its durability:
      • A centered base ensures users will never wear through the base.
      • Centered inserts allow for swapping foot straps side-to-side, catering to potential wear out on a rail.
      • Raised beams along the side provide added stiffness and strength, minimizing the chances of creasing, wearing through, or breaking the board.
  4. Freeride Mentality: The design inspiration for the Traverse comes from other board sports like surfing, snowboarding, and skateboarding. It allows riders to have a playful and loose experience, enabling them to effortlessly pull off stylish carves and grabs or push their limits.

In essence, the 2024 Naish Traverse Ewan Jaspen Pro is marketed as the ultimate versatile kiteboarding board, emphasizing strength, durability, and a new, unique feel in its design and performance.

    • Size Variants: 5’0 and 5’4.
    • The only board with a Quantum setup ensuring higher speeds and remarkable rail grip.
    • Size reduction in the smallest variant from 5’1 to 5’0, catering specifically to lighter riders and women.
    • An excellent choice for “bump and jump” conditions and smaller waves.
  6. Skater:
    • Meant for strapless freestyle and flat water conditions.
    • Features a square rail and parallel outline, ensuring stability both in water and mid-air.
    • Size Variants: 5’0, 5.2, and 5’4.
    • The chop nose design minimizes surface area facing the wind, ensuring better adherence to your feet during strapless tricks.
    • The position of the grab rail has been revamped, now running through the center, facilitating a firmer grip.
    • It’s also ideal for riders transitioning from a twin tip to a directional board.

Both the Global and Go-To boards showcase the double bamboo construction and also come with centered inserts, allowing riders the option to use them strapped or strapless.
