Event: Venyu Triple-S Invitational
Celebrating its ten-year anniversary this past spring in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, the Venyu Triple-S Invitational marked a decade of progression of the sport. For Brandon Scheid (pictured on the cover and featured in this issue, page 62), it was an occasion to lay down his masterful rail-riding style and powerhouse kicker skills, amidst a field of the world’s top wake-minded kiteboarders.
Kiteboarding’s premiere invite-only event also offered an opportunity for Scheid to contemplate the event’s impact on his humble beginnings—when he was coaching for REAL Watersports (which puts on the Venyu Triple-S), and was a mere shop rider for Liquid Force. What would Scheid’s career look like today if he never got involved with the Triple-S in the first place?
Since Scheid’s first Triple-S experience back in 2008 when he was relatively unknown, his life and riding has changed considerably. Consistently placing in the top five or crowning the Triple-S podium for a number of years, Scheid has become an international team rider for Liquid Force Kiteboarding and the poster-boy of park riding.
