- July to September. This period follows the rainy season, ensuring full lagoons and optimal wind.
How to Get There:
- Fly into Sao Luis airport and head to Yes, or drive to Barenas.
- From Barenas, it’s a picturesque 1-hour speedboat ride to Athens.
Accommodation:
- Approx. $50/night for a basic room (includes breakfast for two).
- Notable Mention: Rico Atins, a lovely hotel with friendly staff and good internet connectivity, making it remote-work friendly.
Special Attractions:
- Lansoise Maranensis Nature Reserve: Beautiful dunes, stunning lagoons, and abundant wildlife. However, you can’t stay overnight in the reserve.
- Atins itself: A quaint town boasting fantastic restaurants and, occasionally, outstanding live music.
