The worlds best park riders from all corners of the globe have come together for the inaugural kiteboarding park event in Asia. Hosted by Blue Palawan in Puerto Princessa on beautiful Palawan Island in the Philippines, riders and spectators alike are in for a treat. The event will have three separate disciplines; Sliders, Kicker and Freestyle running over the course of Jan 13th-19th. The custom built features include the Philippine Airlines Kicker, North Kiteboarding Fun Box, and the Liquid Force Rooftop.
Action for Day 1
Shortly after competitors finished a sunny poolside breakfast and skippers meeting, the wind picked up right on time to get the first day of competition at the first Blue Palawan International Kiteboard Open underway.
After a brief warm up session, competitors hit the North Kiteboarding Fun Box on starboard tack for the first round of heats. Separated into heats of 4-5 competitors, each rider would attempt the feature one at a time for 3 attempts to post their single highest score then again on port tack to make an accumulative score of their 2 highest hits.
Shortly after completing the starboard round of heats, the wind backed off slightly and competition was called for the day with action to be resumed tomorrow morning.
