All-Rounder Extraordinaire – Duotone Evo SLS 2023 Review

Performance All-Rounder Extraordinaire

Size Tested: 9 and 12m

As the Kitesurfing Magazine team journeyed through our testing phase, we discovered the Duotone Evo SLS 2023 to be a cut above. With its exceptional versatility spanning across freeride, big air, hooked freestyle, and wave riding, this kite pushes the boundaries of dynamic flying. The Evo SLS’s powerful performance, coupled with easy accessibility, truly makes it stand out as the best all-rounder in Duotone’s lineup.

The Duotone Evo SLS thrills with its extensive range of capabilities. Whether you are an adrenaline junkie pushing your limits with big air jumps, a hooked freestyler, or simply relishing your time freeriding or wave riding, the Evo SLS accommodates all. The kite’s buoyant hangtime and the seamless ease with which it boosts off the water are particularly commendable. Beginners and pros alike will find this kite a joy to experience. Its innovative construction delivers aggressive lift, thanks to the rigid frame and direct and dynamic steering. This results in exceptional take-off speeds and a floaty hangtime. The Evo is a real standout for learning and progressing your air transitions. The newly incorporated Flex Strut design revolutionizes the kite’s low-end range by optimizing its climbing speed and maneuverability. The Evo SLS’s build quality is top-notch, boasting a Penta TX leading-edge construction that makes this model lighter and stronger. The kite’s SLS construction effectively reduces its overall weight while improving durability and performance. Penta TX and Trinity TX canopy make the kite about 15% lighter than the standard construction Evo. The kite’s pulley-less bridle system enhances your kite flying experience by providing a dynamic and direct feel. It’s designed to withstand harsh usage and offers superior durability. The Evo SLS’s versatility extends to its multiple tuning options on the tips. These options allow you to tailor your kite flying experience to match your riding style. Whether you wish to increase or decrease the turning speed or bar pressure, the Evo SLS lets you take full control.

Beginners may find the higher price tag a little daunting compared to the standard construction Duotone Evo, but it’s a fraction of the price of the high end D/Lab Aluula construction kites.

Best For

The Duotone Evo SLS is excellent for kite enthusiasts who love the versatility and high performance in one package. It’s perfect for both beginners and pros, delivering top-notch performance every step of your kiteboarding journey.
